Esbart Català de Dansaires was born in July 1908, near Sant Pere més Baix street in Barcelona.
Since its inception the entity has been concerned with documenting the dances, in the festive, choreographic, musical or costume aspects, and has actively participated in the reconstruction and restoration of many dances throughout Catalonia.
The decades of the ten years, the twenty and the middle of the thirty represented the consolidation and projection of the entity.
The Esbart Català de Dansaires continues the tasks of documentation, study and dissemination of Catalan dance. The diffusion is carried out through the three sections of dancers, grouped according to age, the Bastoners groups and the groups of the Cavallets Cotoners of Barcelona and the Cavallets Petits.
The eagerness of the Esbart to spread the Catalan dance has led it to become editor of books, musical recordings collection "Music and Music of the Esbart Català de Dansaires" with 7 volumes, organizer of symposia on dance and exhibitions, promoter of classes of dance open to the general public, creator of projects to raise awareness of Catalan dance and call for awards for dance studios.
